Red Pyramid, Veracruz, Mexico

All of the pyramids throughout the realm of the Maya were painted red.  I had an opportunity to go inside a pyramid where you could see the pyramid over which it was constructed and the color red was still visible.  Today, we see the naked stone, as the color has worn off over time.  To the Maya, Red, the color of the sun and blood, signify life.
